HYC FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Inspired by James 1:27, HOPE Youth Corps seeks to imitate pure religion. By engaging youth in international service to areas around the globe that need the love of Christ. We promote leadership growth, character development, and worldwide unity.
HOPE Youth Corps (HYC) brings students from all different backgrounds together to work with HOPE worldwide programs across the globe, serving the world’s poor. Among the many benefits students receive from their participation in HYC are spiritual growth, lifelong friendships and memories, a heightened sense of purpose, greater self-confidence and independence, and a better understanding of the modern world.
This years theme is “Go and Do Likewise”, inspired from Luke 10:36-37.
Serve on the beautiful island of Oahu! Although Hawaii is known for its beauty and wealth, there are deep pockets of poverty that are underserved. Participants will serve children living in a homeless shelter in Honolulu, help build homes with Habitat for Humanity, as well as work on environmental conservation projects. Volunteers will also worship with and get to know the Oahu Church of Christ and spend time reaching out and leading Bible Talks at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. Participants will enjoy the beauty of the island through hiking, snorkeling, and other sightseeing activities!
HOPE Youth Corps participants are selected based on their application, recommendations and heart to serve. Students age 16 and 25 years are eligible to apply for HOPE Youth Corps. Participants must be at least 16 years old to be considered for domestic (located in the participant’s country of residence) programs; for international (outside of the participant’s country of residence) programs, participants must be at least 18.
If you do not meet the age requirement or are not a student, you can still volunteer through the HOPE worldwide Volunteer Corps. Volunteer Corps is open to families and individuals. Participants younger than 18 of age must be accompanied by a participating adult.
