Whether you’ve attended church your entire life or never been at all, we know it’s not easy visiting a church for the first time. You’re not quite sure what to expect and you probably have a lot of questions. At the Oahu Church of Christ, we want to give you the best spiritual experience possible.
How do I get there?
The Oahu Church meets primarily at the University of Hawaii (Manoa) – on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center Ballroom. Occasionally we’ll meet at Waikele Elementary School. Click here for more detailed information.
What happens when I arrive?
As you approach the location, you will see friendly greeters passing out weekly newsletters that contain current information about the church. The greeters can also direct you to our children’s classrooms. Our hope is that you’ll get a chance to meet others and while you wait, feel free to enjoy some light snacks that our Cafe Ministry has put together.
what about my kids?
Our Parent-Keiki Ministry is here to serve you and your family! All children–from 6 months old to 8th grade–are invited to join us in a fun, safe, clean, interactive environment where our team of trained volunteers creates an environment your child will want to come back to every week! When you register your child, you will receive a small tag that you will use to pick up your child after the service.
What is service like?
First of all, you won’t be pointed out or made to feel uncomfortable in any way. You will have a meaningful, spiritual experience…and our hope is that you’ll have a lot of fun. We like to sing as a congregation, so the first 15 minutes of the service you’ll get to enjoy some classic and modern worship music led by our Worship Ministry. We’ll have the words to each song up on the screen, so you can sing as much as you feel comfortable! Then after a short welcome, there is usually another song or we’ll jump right into a time of communion and then a time of offering. Afterwards a message/sermon is presented for about 30-40 minutes and takes eternal Biblical principles and applies them to your life in some very real and practical way. Feel free to bring a Bible and a notebook if you like, so that you can review the message later in the week.
